Join us today for our annual community awareness event! This event celebrates the importance of building community alliances with organizations, partners, musicians, artists, and neighbors in our rapidly developing city of Austin. The best way to thrive in a city is to work together, share resources, and drop the barriers which separate us. We aim to nurture these valuable relationships at our community awareness event, as well as bring awareness to Home Street Music’s mission to build community, restore confidence, and reclaim dignity through the healing power of song. “It's Austin's only song circle specifically for people recovering from living on the streets.” - Kevin Curtin, The Austin Chronicle.
The event kicks off on Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m. with musical performances by several Home Street Music participants, poetry by the incomparable, nomadic storyteller Chris Chandler, and HSM’s song circle lead & prolific songwriter J Wagner. There will be community speakers from the SIMS Foundation, The Austin Public Library, KOOP Radio, Community First Village, and more. Live entertainment caps off the evening, with performances by Austin artists Suzanna Choffel, and Honey Made.
